The car was dismantled and protection inside the fenders is redone after have sandblasted them.
Only the engine, driver seat and dash stay on the car to be able to move the car. Some body work is done on both rear fenders.

May 2003

When all underparts of the body was done, the engine is removed of the car to prepare engine bay for new paint

Shiny black paint is done in engine bay and in the trunk.

Engine is completely washed, as engine has originally 120.000 km, no work is necessary, but I prefer change now some parts as complete clutch system, I change brake master cylinder and hydraulic clutch system too. These are so easy to change them when engine is removed !

June 2003

Doors, hood and trunk ready to paint in paint room.

Now it's turn of the body to enter in paint room.

After 2 layers of black base paint and 3 layers of varnish, all body parts are re-installed to dry. The old bumper is mounted to tranfer the car on a trailer.

I begin the assembly by the trunk and the front of the car.
New front bumper, new turn signals (came from Switzerland), new stickers, new front grille, new chrome parts, ... and many other.

New carpet job in black velvet.

New rear bumper and rechromed center plates.

August 2003

Four doors are re-installed and newly equipped with lower chromed side molding. Note, rear glass are black tinted and chromed power rear view mirrors (Special equipement by H. CHAPRON) are adapted on front doors.

Rear seat is in the car after cleaning. Mirrors and reading lamps are adapted on rear quarter panel (Special equipement by H. CHAPRON). You can see all door mecanisms.

September 2003

Rear door panels (all leather and wood, special equipement by H. CHAPRON) and front passenger seat are installed after cleaning. Note the working table and radio remote controls located on the back of the front seat is a special equipement by H. CHAPRON.

The new dash during inastalling on the car. This dash was modified by H. CHAPRON, it was in leather with some wood panels (not shown).

Only wood panels are missing now. I gave them to redone.

Front and rear winshield are freshly mounted. Note the sky shown in the hood !!!

December 2003

Newly redone wood panel of dash were re-installed. This dash look like a Rolls Royce one (chrome, wood and leather), isn't it !

February 2004

New rear tailight bought in Germany (Many thanks to Claudius K.) are installed.

All four totally new wood panels (6 layers of varnish) are installed on door panels

April 2004

New varnish on wood panel which contain on the left a document holder and on the right a working table

New side moldings (NOS) were installed

May 2004

I allowed myself to do a little changment to original condition, I did myself the leather cover of the steering wheel.
It was an optionnal equipment listed by Chapron.

June 2004

The document holder and the picnic table are re-plated with new wood and varnish

And after more than 450 working hours, more than 2 years and 7300 euro invested, my 604 Special Chapron is ready to do his first old cars meeting : The 8th Auto Retro of Jablines on 26 & 27 June 2004.
